Dance FM Live charges a small monthly contribution for DJs playing music on any of the five streams. This helps cover PRS and PPL music licensing, copyright clearance for the music played during the show, radio server costs, future website development, and ongoing station maintenance.
Some stations may allow DJs to broadcast for free, but that does not automatically mean the station is properly licensed. Music from vinyl, CDs or digital files remains protected by copyright, and being a DJ does not automatically give permission to play copyrighted music publicly.
Talk-only shows are free. If your programme contains no copyrighted music, the £25 monthly music-licensing contribution does not apply. Talk-only ideas could include music news, interviews, reviews, opinion shows and new music discussion.
